BUCKETLIST VENTURE: COMPLETE
I had been wanting to skydive for a few years and I FINALLY got my chance when I came to Cape Town, South Africa. Of course I couldn’t just casually enjoy my first international trip but because of my adventure seeking nature, I had to do something most would call extreme LOL.
The RUSH of freedom I got from this experience is almost indescribable but i’ll try. As the plane ascended, I had this calm yet anxious feeling. I was the second jumper which I liked because I was able to watch the first person go out. My instructor and I moved towards the exit to get prepared. We sat on the edge and he told me “Okay, just lean forward and allow yourself to fall out”. I started to get a little panicky but I said “Fuck it, just go” and threw myself into the lean.
The free fall before the parachute opening, was IN. FREAKING. CREDIBLE !!! The sensation honestly felt like I was floating instead of falling even though we were falling pretty fast. I wish the free fall was longer because that was my favorite part. Once the parachute deployed, we glided down to the landing area. Paragliding down, it felt like drifting in a chair and gave me time to actually see the views because I wasn’t paying attention to much during the free fall, HA !
The landing was not rough at all, mostly because I listened to the instructor and the area which we landed in had very soft sand to help with the impact. Thrilling experience and I would definitely consider doing it again.
