The Palm Tree is one of my favorite trees and I absolutely LOVE being in or near water, so I wanted a tattoo that incorporated them together. Summer is also my favorite season, so Palm trees and water are synonymous with that joy.

Those words came from the song ‘Palm Trees by Goldlink’. I happened to be at the beach when this song popped up and those words spoke out to me. Immediately I looked up tattoo versions of Palm trees and decided the font for the lyrics had to be in cursive because, to me, that best fits how I see waves.
My trip to Cape Town was coming up so I decided to save the idea and get my first international tattoo ! I looked up tattoo studios that were near my Airbnb and MTH was one of the few that popped up. Upon looking at their Instagram and going by the studio prior, I booked an appointment.
The studio was fairly easy to find since it’s right by the corner and across the street from Gardens Shopping Center. Uncle Blvck greeted me upon entering and I briefly got to talk with him about the studio as well as my desired tattoo. He set me up with another artist that was available and we began the design process. Once I figured out where I wanted it, we got to work. This isn’t my first tattoo *I have 6 and want a total of 11* so I don’t feel ‘pain’. The tattoo artist even mentioned that he’s traveled around the world and never met anyone who sat through a tattoo like I did lol.
The tattoo didn’t take much time but most of the detailing was in the Palm tree. I already had my own after care products since I’ve gotten tattoos before. I’m happy with the way my tattoo turned out and the service received at the studio, so I would definitely recommend this place. I can now say that I’ve gotten a tattoo in another country !
